Which airport do I fly into?
Chiang Mai, Thailand (CNX).
Do I need a passport for travel?
Yes! Unless you are a Thai citizen, you will need a passport. You will usually be granted a 30 day tourist visa upon arrival in Thailand, but please check with your local Thai consulate if you have any questions regarding your country's status. More info here: www.thaiembassy.org.
How can I get to and from the airport in Thailand?
Wandering Yogi Retreats (WYR) will provide airport pick up & drop off in Chiang Mai at specific times on arrival and departure days. Any arrivals or departures outside of these times can be arranged for an additional fee.
What time is check in and check out?
Check in is at any time after 2 PM local time. Please try to plan flights accordingly. Check out will be 12 PM on final day.
Is there electricity in the rooms?
Yes! The retreat center was built less than one year ago and has Thai hospitality and charm, with all modern, western conveniences. There is electricity, hot running water and high speed wifi. No need to bring adapters, all plugs are adaptable.
Are the rooms air conditioned?
No, the rooms are not air conditioned. The resort is 30-40 minutes outside of the city of Chiang Mai, in the foothills. The weather in December is typically warm but not warm enough to need air conditioning. There is a beautiful, salt water pool if you need cooling off!
Are there safes in the rooms?
No, there are not safes in the rooms. Thai's are mainly Buddhist, and culturally, stealing is against their nature. We are out in the country, and the only real traffic are water buffalo and maybe a chicken or two. There are locks on the doors if you would like to use them.
Is there internet access?
Yes, there is internet access on site.
Is there a local contact number?
Yes. Fall, one of your retreat hosts, will have SIM card with a Thai number, and WhatsApp with US number.
Is there a restaurant at the resort?
Yes, there is a restaurant on site. We will be serving three buffet meals, plus fruit, snacks, tea, and coffee daily. If you would alcohol, additional snacks, or other items, you may order from the restaurant at your own charge.
Is the food safe to eat?
Yes! The food on site is grown organically and hand harvested by the local staff and farmers. It is clean, fresh and delicious!
Does the resort provide filtered water?
Yes, we will have filtered water, tea, and coffee available.
Is alcohol served at the resort?
Yes. Alcohol is not included in the retreat, but you are welcome to order your own.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept all major credit cards.
Can I pay for things in US dollars?
No. Please talk with your banking institution about obtaining currency (Thai Baht) prior to coming to Thailand, or change money at the airport. The airport rate is usually higher, but it may be the most convenient. There are also ATMs located at the airport, but fees can be quite high.
Are there spa treatments available?
Yes. We have excellent therapists available for private treatments. Contact us directly if you are interested in booking a treatment during your retreat.
Are children welcome on the retreat?
Please contact us directly if you are interested in bringing your children.
What is the weather like?
December is the cool season in tropical Chiang Mai. Temperatures are typically around 75-80 degrees fahrenheit, and rarely get above 85 degrees fahrenheit. Evenings will drop to around 65-70 degrees, but can get as low as 50 degrees . Rain is uncommon for this time of year.
What if I get sick and need a doctor?
Thailand has excellent and inexpensive medical facilities. People from around the world come to Chiang Mai and Bangkok for 'medical holidays' to seek treatments! Rest assured that in the unlikely event of illness or accident, you will be given the best of care in state of the art facilities. Travel insurance is highly encouraged, so please check with your current insurance provider.
